The backstory to the Spiritual roots and fruit of The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden
Since the beginning of time, God has endowed select individuals with artistic talent, filled them with His Spirit, and entrusted them with divine skill, ability, and knowledge to use their craft for His glory (Exodus 31:1-11).
When local artist Max Greiner first received a message that God planned to use his talent to “help restore the Tabernacle,” he was beyond skeptical. His conservative Christian background made him question the scriptural basis for such a claim. Still, he couldn’t shake the prophetic words spoken by visiting evangelist Mahesh Chavda.
Eight months later, Max received another message. A man named Marlo Quibodeaux sent him an email stating that God wanted Max to create a 77’ 7” cross that would stand on Interstate 10 to win souls for Jesus. Max politely told the stranger he would pray about the project.
As Max sought the Lord for guidance, God shocked him with an unexpected answer. “In an open vision, I saw a cross-shaped garden, 300 feet long, with my major sculptures displayed in the points of the cross. At the top stood a giant empty cross. I had never seen that sculpture before in my life. Then I saw an interstate highway with cars stacked on the access road trying to gain entrance to the garden.”
Wanting absolute assurance that the vision was God’s idea, Max and his wife Sherry committed the matter to prayer. When they started receiving one divine confirmation after another, they decided to move forward by faith.
Armed with just a dream, seven Spirit-filled trustees, and a proposal, they set out to discover how and where God would fulfill the vision He had placed in Max’s heart.
Against all odds, and despite fierce spiritual warfare, God led Max and his team to the ideal site for the garden and funded the multimillion-dollar project in ways that can only be described as miraculous. Click here to read the entire history of the prayer garden.
Today, The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden (TCKSPG) is debt-free and offers free admission. The garden is nestled atop a beautifully landscaped hill adjacent to IH-10 in Kerrville. Max’s sculpture, The Empty Cross™, towers above the town and acts as a beacon of hope for millions who travel the busy interstate highway. Trip Advisor lists the site as one of the top 10 percent of tourist attractions worldwide.
Every year, hundreds of thousands travel to the garden from all over the U.S. and abroad to experience what Max calls “a type of last-day tabernacle in the Texas Hill Country.” Every detail of the 24.5-acre park was prayerfully and meticulously designed with a deep symbolic purpose: to bring glory to God and win souls to Jesus.
Max explains, “The site is 1,900’ above sea level, halfway between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans—the same latitude as Israel. The Empty Cross™ is recognized by many as the most symbolic cross sculpture in the world. It represents the Resurrection, the Door, the Narrow Gate, the Strong Tower, the Mighty Fortress, and the Light of the World, Jesus Christ. It weighs 70 tons and measures 77’ 7” tall with a 40’ cross arm. The footprint of the sculpture forms a 10’ x 10’ square, like the Holy of Holies. The sacred space in the center of the cross is 7’ wide and features plaques that explain the scriptural path to salvation, the filling of the Holy Spirit, healing, and miracles.”
Max’s empty cross is just one of the 2.25 million dollars worth of garden sculptures donated by three artists. Click here to explore all the garden’s exhibits. TCKSPG’s incredible history and Spirit-inspired art fixtures testify to the garden’s supernatural roots.
But nothing speaks more loudly than the first-hand accounts of those whose lives have been transformed by God at the garden.
“Literally thousands of people have been born-again, water baptized and baptized in the Holy Spirit. By the love of God, many souls have been delivered. And physical and emotional healings occur frequently. In addition to these miracles, other signs and wonders occur. Many have witnessed angel visitations and the sudden appearance of Shekinah Glory Dust. This sparkling substance looks like fine glitter. Since 2005, the Glory Dust has formed on the skin, clothes, and Bibles of thousands of Garden visitors.” – Fire On The Mountain, TCKSG Newsletter
A visitor named Earl experienced spontaneous healing from a 35-year-old knee injury while praying at The Empty Cross. A man named Joe was healed of cancer. A woman named Glenda was distraught and feeling hopeless when she visited the garden. She and many others were delivered from suicide while at TCKSPG. These are just a few of the miracles reported over the last two decades. Click here to peruse thousands of testimonials.
The chaplains who serve at the garden get to witness the work of God first-hand. “Recently, my husband and I were serving at the Garden. He was asked to sound the shofar to open a prayer session for 103 women. These women had just laid their crosses down ceremoniously with many confessions and petitions written on them. Many were crying, and all were praising the Lord. As I looked upon the scene, I saw an unusual manifestation hovering in the clear night sky around the top of the cross. I took a photo. The image clearly looks like a large dove descending over the gathering! Over the last 12 years, I have witnessed numerous times that visitors experienced signs and wonders, healings, and answered prayers!” –Cheryl Grundy, TCKSPG Chaplain.
In his testimony, Max sums up the garden’s spiritual fruit this way: “These miracles, signs and wonders point to the real God who is good. They point to His Son, Jesus Christ, who is Risen. They point to the Power who Raised Him from the dead, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is very active on earth today. Most importantly, these miracles are a sign from Jesus Christ so that you may know Him and the power of His resurrection.’’
